Deploying Windows 10 across all applicable devices. The upgrade aims to improve security, enhance functionality, and support modern software applications. Specifically, the initiative will involve replacing devices that are under warranty for less than 11 months with new, compatible hardware, while performing an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on all other devices. This approach ensures a seamless transition with minimal disruption to daily operations while providing employees with an up-to-date and secure operating system.
- Successfully deploy Windows 10 as the standard operating system across the organization to enhance system performance, security, and user experience.
- Replace devices with less than 11 months of warranty with new devices that meet the hardware compatibility requirements for Windows 10.
- Execute an in-place upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on all remaining devices, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime during the transition.
- Provide comprehensive user training and technical support to facilitate a smooth transition to Windows 10.
- Ensure that all devices comply with the organization’s security policies and standards post-deployment.
- Maintain operational continuity throughout the upgrade process by planning, communicating, and executing phased rollouts where necessary.
This project covers the deployment of Windows 10 as the primary operating system across the organization. It includes the replacement of devices still under warranty (less than 11 months) and the in-place upgrading of existing Windows 7 devices. The project is bound by the organization’s hardware inventory, budget constraints, and operational policies regarding minimal disruption. Activities are restricted to devices authorized for upgrade or replacement within the scope of IT-managed assets, and the project will be planned to avoid peak working hours to ensure business continuity.
- Assessment of the current device inventory to identify devices eligible for a new purchase versus in-place upgrade.
- Procurement and deployment of new devices for units with less than 11 months of warranty remaining.
- Execution of in-place upgrades from Windows 7 to Windows 10 on all other compatible devices.
- Testing and compatibility evaluation to ensure that all applications and hardware function optimally post-upgrade.
- Development and delivery of training sessions and user guides to support the transition to Windows 10.
- Establishment of a support and troubleshooting mechanism during and after the deployment phase.
- Coordination with vendors and IT support teams to manage licenses, updates, and device configurations.
- Replacing or upgrading devices that are not part of the approved IT asset inventory or fall outside the scope of the organization's hardware refresh cycle.
- Upgrades or modifications to software applications not directly impacted by the operating system change unless they compromise compatibility or security.
- Major hardware changes or infrastructure modifications beyond the simple replacement of devices under warranty and in-place upgrades.
- Post-deployment long-term maintenance, which will be managed under standard IT support processes rather than as part of this project.
