¶ Replace and Decommission PABX with VOIP
Project Name: Replace and Decommission PABX - VOIP
PRoject ID: PRJ2010-011
Project Location: Antwerp, Belgium
Est. Start Date: 28/09/2010
Est. Finish Date: 15/05/2011
Modernize our telecommunication infrastructure by decommissioning the existing PABX analogue telephone system, which is almost out of support (31/05/2011), and transitioning to a software-based VOIP solution. This upgrade will not only streamline communication processes by leveraging digital technology, but also maintain our current telephone numbers, ensuring seamless continuity for clients and employees. Additionally, by providing personal headsets, the project will enable all users to confidently take calls from their laptops, further enhancing flexibility and mobility across the organization.
- Successfully migrate from the PABX analogue system to a VOIP software-based solution while retaining current telephone numbers.
- Ensure compatibility and seamless integration of VOIP software with existing laptops, minimizing the need for new hardware purchases.
- Provide personal headsets to every employee to support efficient call handling via laptops.
- Enhance overall communication quality and reliability with advanced VOIP features.
- Minimize downtime and disruption during the transition to ensure business continuity.
- Align the project with existing IT infrastructure policies and budget constraints.
This project covers the migration from an outdated PABX analogue telephone system to a modern VOIP software-based solution. The focus includes maintenance of current contact numbers, ensuring laptop compatibility with the VOIP solution, and the procurement of personal headsets for employees. The project will be executed within our existing IT infrastructure and on a fixed timeline and budget. Key boundary conditions include working within the limitations of current laptop hardware compatibility (no new laptop purchases) and ensuring integration with other communication systems used within the organization.
- Detailed assessment and mapping of the current PABX telephone system and required migration steps.
- Selection and implementation of a suitable VOIP software that supports our current phone numbers.
- Comprehensive testing for compatibility with existing laptops to confirm VOIP software functionality.
- Procurement and distribution of personal headsets to ensure all employees can efficiently handle calls from their laptops.
- Training and support sessions for employees to ensure a smooth transition and effective use of the new VOIP system.
- Coordination with IT and telecommunications teams to implement the VOIP solution with minimal disruption to daily operations.
- Post-implementation support, including monitoring and troubleshooting of the new system.
- Replacement or upgrade of laptops that are found incompatible with the VOIP software; only existing compatible laptops will be used.
- Changes to external telephone services or numbers outside the scope of maintaining current numbers.
- Upgrades to unrelated IT or communications infrastructure, unless directly linked to ensuring VOIP compatibility.
- External hardware enhancements beyond the personal headsets required for the project.
- Long-term maintenance contracts or managed service agreements beyond the initial stabilization and support phase post-deployment.
